Are you someone who dreams of having a Pinterest-worthy home but finds the mere thought of shopping for furniture, rugs, and curtains exhausting? Do you struggle to summon the energy to tackle everyday tasks, let alone rearrange your living space to look aesthetically pleasing? Well, fear not! In this guide, I will show you how to effortlessly arrange furniture and curtains in your bedroom, living room, and dining room, and even spruce up your bathroom.
I moved into a new house about a year ago and it was overwhelming to make these decisions. My choices of dimensions for furniture, rugs, and curtains were successful! Dealing with chronic illness, I know how challenging it is, and wanted to post this for whoever out there may benefit. Moving can be stressful and I'd just like to share with y'all what I found to be helpful.
The Bedroom: Your Oasis of Comfort
Let's start with the most important room in your house - the bedroom, your sanctuary of relaxation. When arranging furniture in the bedroom, it's all about creating a cozy and functional space. Rug choice can make or break the appearance of your bedroom so below are some dimensions to keep in mind.

Pro Tips :
Bed Placement: Your bed is the focal point of the room. Optimal placement is against the longest wall with space on either side for bedside tables.
Furniture Size: Avoid overcrowding. Choose pieces that fit the scale of your room.
Lighting: Create a relaxing ambiance with soft lighting using bedside lamps or fairy lights.
Moving on to the living room...
The Living Room: Where Comfort Meets Style
Ah, the living room - the heart of your home where you Netflix and hang out with your furry friends. When arranging furniture in your living room, aim for a balance of comfort and style. The rug's functionality depends on the dimensions of the room and furniture selections. Take these into consideration when selecting the rug size. Below are a few examples to use for reference.

Pro Tips :
Seating Arrangement: Create a conversation area by placing your sofa and chairs facing each other.
Rug Placement: Anchor the space with a rug that fits all the furniture or opt for a small rug under the coffee table for a cozy touch.
Personal Touches: Add throw pillows, blankets, and wall art to inject your personality into the space.
The Dining Room: Where Meals and Memories Are Made
Moving on to the dining room - the place where you gather with family and friends to share meals and laughter. When arranging furniture in the dining room, the key is to create a welcoming atmosphere for your guests.

I opted for the round table because it took up less space allowing better traffic flow when hosting.
Pro Tips :
Table Placement: Center the dining table in the room, leaving enough space for chairs to be pulled out comfortably. Above is a rug cheat sheet I put together depending on the size of the dining furniture in your house.
Lighting: Make a statement with your choice of lighting above the table for a touch of elegance.
Decor: Add a stylish centerpiece or a vase of fresh flowers to elevate the room's look.
The Bathroom: aka the Office
Last but not least, let's not forget about the bathroom, your personal oasis for self-care and relaxation. When choosing bathroom rug size, maximizing space and functionality are key.

Pro Tips :
Storage: Utilize vertical space with shelves or cabinets to keep your essentials organized.
Décor: Add a touch of luxury with scented candles, plants, or stylish towels.
Mirrors: Hang a mirror to create the illusion of a larger space and add a decorative element.
Curtain Call: Hanging Curtains with Style
Now, let's talk about adding the finishing touch to your well-arranged rooms - curtains! Hanging curtains can instantly improve the appearance of any space and add a pop of color or texture. Curtains can make the room look smaller, but if done correctly, they can make the space seem more open and elevated.

Pro Tips:
Height: Hang curtains high above the window to create the illusion of height and make the room feel larger. Hang curtain rod 4-6" above the window for rod and curtain height

Length: Let the curtains kiss the floor for a polished look.
Fabric: Choose light, airy fabrics for a breezy feel, or opt for blackout curtains, which I've found helpful for migraines.
Accessories: Consider adding stylish curtain rods for an extra flair. When we built our house I purchased all of mine from Home Depot.
Too tired to iron the curtains? Just embrace the wrinkled look. Don't worry, it will "iron" itself out within a couple of weeks. Oh, the iron-y...
So, there you have it, a guide to arranging furniture and hanging curtains without breaking a sweat! Remember, your home should be a reflection of your personality and style, regardless of how much energy you have to spare. This guide provides directions to make home decoration simple. This would have been very helpful for me because, with chronic illness, I have no choice but to use my energy sparingly.
